What this list is

Every motor carrier operating in the United States must keep proof of commercial truck insurance on file with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The insurer files it, and the insurer cancels it. Both filings are public, and a cancellation with no replacement behind it is a carrier that is about to have a problem.

TriggerRank reads those filings every week, checks each cancellation against the current policy file, and keeps only the ones where no replacement has been filed. This page is the count from that run, with the identities removed. Every countdown on it is worked out against today, not against the day of the run.

Why the thirty days matter

FMCSA does not revoke an authority the moment a policy lapses. It allows roughly thirty days from the cancellation's effective date for a replacement filing, and then the operating authority goes. The clock starts on the cancellation date, not on the day the carrier finds out, which is why so many of them find out late.

That window is the whole opportunity. A carrier on day three is shopping. A carrier on day twenty-seven is desperate, and has usually already been called by everyone else. That is why this list is ordered by time left instead of by fleet size.

Reinstatement after a revocation costs a federal filing fee on top of the policy, so the carriers on this page have a direct financial reason to answer the phone.

What it is not

It is not a list you can call for free. Company names, filing contacts and verified websites stay inside the paid feed, and this page publishes the counts, the regions, the fleet sizes and the days remaining. That line is the same one every TriggerRank page holds.

Nor is it live. The filings are re-read once a week, so a carrier who bought a replacement policy yesterday may still be counted here until the next run. The date the count was checked is printed above it, never implied, and any carrier whose thirty days have already run out drops off the page instead of counting into the negative.
